Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, has tragically passed away.
Brett, 41, and his wife, Jessica, announced that their son died after falling ill while on vacation with their family.
“He was 14 years old and has left us far too soon after falling ill along with several other family members while on vacation. In a statement released by the Yankees, the family said, “We do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st. We have so many questions and so few answers at this point.” Miller was referred to by them as a cherished brother and son whose infectious smile brought joy to those around him. He adored sports like football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. He lived life to the fullest every single day.

The Yankees organization expressed its deep sorrow over Miller’s passing, saying the news had left them devastated.
“Words feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss. It wasn’t just Brett who literally grew up in this organization for more than 17 years – so did his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hunter and Miller. We grieve with Brett, Jessica, Hunter, and their community of family and friends in mourning the loss of Miller, who had a spark in his eyes, an outgoing and feisty personality, and a warm and loving nature. Our love for the Gardner family is unconditional and absolute, and we will offer our enduring support while understanding their desire for privacy at this time. May Miller rest in peace,” the Yankees said in a statement.
Brett Gardner spent his entire 14-season Major League Baseball career with the Yankees, winning a World Series with the team in 2009. He retired after the 2021 season.
